Messages That Can Be Sent When A Baby Is Born

Rivières own: everyone's business! Together, our waterways clean!

The River Agreement Slutty organize, in collaboration with the municipalities of Erquelinnes, Estinnes, Frameries, Quévy and Mons, the Walloon Region and the Province of Hainaut, of cleaning the banks of streams called Operation Rivers clean 17 and October 18, 2008 .

This action will be carried out jointly with all the contracts on the River throughout Wallonia.

What are the impacts of waste streams?

Our rivers are a legacy to uphold and respect. Previously used as sources of food, water power, as a means of communication, they are nevertheless useful for today's agriculture, tourism, but also for nature, biodiversity and the environment.

Unfortunately, nowadays, they are often regarded as a large garbage collecting various rubbish, bulky and even lawn clippings. ...

Whether household waste, green waste, inert waste, special waste, bulky ... All have a negative impact on the ecosystem of the river pollution of soil and groundwater aquifer (causing an increase in the cost of purifying water), destabilization of riverbanks, eutrophication, asphyxia, obstruction of water flow (flood risk), degradation of the landscape aspect (reduced quality of life), appearance of unwanted animals ...

But what a river clean operation?

An operation "Clean river" is a call for volunteers, various associations, schools, youth organizations to pick up litter in and / or around the streams in a spirit of friendliness to eliminate or reduce waste problems.

But more than just a collection of waste, this is aimed primarily at raising awareness of the problem of waste in our rivers. Indeed, apart from some interest that the transaction represents in terms of improving environmental and living environment, it will also awareness on the part of young cleaners, pollution problems caused by the actions unpatriotic. Through this, they may be not polluters of tomorrow. As adults, they are given the opportunity to set an example to those who are less respectful of nature.

So if you feel the urge to take on your role as citizens and participate in this collaborative project, please contact us on 17 and 18 October 2008!

If you want more information about Operation rivers clean and to clean the sites, you can contact the River Contract of Funk at 065/33 66 61 0496/38 67 21 or cr.trouille @ skynet.be

The River Agreement Slutty (CRT): where are we?

We are in the middle of 2008. This is an opportunity to achieve a balance for that quarter.

On 61 actions to be initiated by the coordination unit, 14 actions were completed, 18 are ongoing, 18 are continuous throughout the duration of the action program and 11 have not yet been initiated.
inventory dark spots all over Slutty Basin is nearing completion. There is only one part of Quévy to analyze. Several themes emerge spots already, namely: waste in rivers, draining, and livestock access to streams. From the start, field activities will be conducted on these topics.

Garbage on Slutty HarmigniesNotre to expansion to the entire basin of hatred is also booming because we've already met with 13 Municipalities (in addition to five already on the CRT) on 26 in the basin Hate. It October that we know the choice of Commons for membership or not the tool Agreement River.

Framework Directive (WFD)
second public hearing June 16 to December 16, 2008!

Adopted in 2000, the WFD establishes a framework for an integrated Community policy in the field of water, that is to say that management uses to shares, means and actors that are sectoral policies (industry , agriculture, nature conservation ...). This directive focuses on the heritage value of the water it must defend and protect. Its objectives are :

v Protect and enhance the environment,
v Use the water sustainable, balanced and equitable
v Achieving "good status" for all waters by December 2015.

The success of this project depends on close collaboration between stakeholders in the Community, Member States and local authorities and will require consultation and participation of all water users including citizens!

An initial survey was conducted from January 1 to June 30, 2006 and wore on the timetable and program of work for developing management plans and on the interim overview of important issues.

management plans are now almost established and must be submitted to players in the water by the second public hearing before being presented to the European Commission.
Through this questionnaire, each may give his ideas, his views on priorities, to build a program to protect our surface water and groundwater.

rivers and hedges: Order of the Walloon Government

The recent disappearance of a large number of hedges in the countryside and the transformation of indigenous hedgerows for the benefit of hedges monospecific (tuya ...) significantly changed their role and rural landscapes.

The causes are varied: more intensive farming with the use of larger vehicles, encouraging consolidations of large surfaces, difficulty in maintenance, competition with other crops or plants ... But more

and more people perceive consequences, including loss of biodiversity, landscape and the trivialization of soil erosion.

Yet the country hedges have a real interest: they serve as a shield against the harmful effects of wind, a refuge for wildlife, prevent soil drying and planting, protect buildings ...

They also play a important for the quality of our waterways and cons flooding. Indeed, the hurdles hindering the water runoff and soil erosion that can cause floods and mudslides. They also avoid the transfer of pollutants in surface water and groundwater.
The impact of hedges can also be seen on the transfer of water in the first meter of soil where again the flow of water is slowed down. Density wooded important influence flows to the basin outlet. The intensity of flooding is diminished, the hedges retain soil particles during the recession.

Landscape montoisLe grove is also involved in denitrification and pesticide degradation due to tree roots and herbs that act as a real filter. Hedgerows are also a natural barrier that prevents drift of pesticides and helps to fight against air contamination by pesticides.
Recognizing this, emerged the desire to replant hedges and trees from species better adapted to local soil and climate. Also, the Walloon Government on 20 December 2007 approved a new decree on the granting of subsidies for planting and maintaining hedgerows, orchards and row of trees (MB 19.02.2008).

Existing aid for the planting of hedgerows have been revised upwards and now individuals can also obtain assistance for the planting of orchards or alignments trees.

The Order also provides assistance for maintenance of these elements. The aid for the maintenance of hedges is not eligible farmers who can benefit from similar assistance through agri-environment.

Floods on the pool Slutty

Flooding caused by particularly bad weather violent at the beginning of June have surprised more than one person on the Basin Slutty. This time, they are marked by mudflows from nearby fields and flowing to arrive in the village funds. Most affected were Asquillies, Givry, Quévy-le-Grand, Quévy-le-Petit, Harmignies, Harveng. Several roads were impassable overnight and some homes were damaged by these flows.

What are the causes?
The primary cause of these flows was of course the intensity storms that hit in Hainaut. However, these problems were compounded for various reasons: row crops and in the direction of the upstream slope of the villages, the loss of wooded landscape (hurdles), land consolidation, soil sealing by increased urbanization and / or the creation of roads, the disappearance and / or lack of ditch maintenance, lack of maintenance of drainage system ...

These incidents can they be limited or eradicated?
Thanks to scientific advances in this area, public authorities apprehend better and better interactions causing flooding and damaging runoff.

Plan "RAIN" (Plan for Prevention and Fight against Floods and their effects on losses) from 2002 includes 30 measures aimed at achieving five objectives: improving knowledge of flood risk, reduce and slow runoff throughout a watershed, increasing the flow capacity of rivers and water storage in floodplains, reducing flood vulnerability and improve crisis management.

In terms of agriculture, some actions have already been implemented but could be widened. These include good agricultural practices, agro-environmental measures (AEM) or the replanting of hedgerows. For example, reducing lengths of slopes contributes to the fight against runoff. FAD as the establishment of grass strips, or winter soil cover installed on a voluntary basis by farmers, create a barrier to creating more runoff and keep the land arable fields. The planting of hedges (which is also a subsidy) to create a barrier to flow.

Increased impervious surfaces reduce the infiltration of stormwater overloads the drainage system and increases the speed of runoff. To overcome these negative effects, conservation of natural ditches for draining water is essential, as is proper maintenance of the roads bordering collectors.

But actions can also be performed at home: harvesting rainwater (tank), the implementation of green roofs or the use of filtering materials (gravel, porous concrete, open, bark, etc..) Allows reduce stormwater runoff.

The item shown on the next page can also serve as a tool for the problem of runoff.

RAIN PLAN: A new order to aid the fight against floods and mudflows caused by runoff

The Walloon Government of 18 January 2007 (MB 12.02. 07), on the granting of subsidies to government subordinate to the establishment of devices for protection against erosion of farmland and the fight against floods and mudflows due to runoff, sets terms of access to ERC grants, as well as the designation of beneficiaries and their obligations to allow access.

devices to control erosion, retain runoff, maintaining the value agricultural land and limit damage to property downstream can be:
- of rural engineering,
- the work of planting and planting
- tests required for the execution of works
- acquiring undeveloped property necessary to complete the above work or payment of a compensation for the creation of an easement for temporary immersion.

Such aid applications must include the opinion of the manager of the watercourse in question, along with official documents including agricultural and hydrological study, the special specifications of the work complies with the specification standard 99 of the Region Walloon ...

A complete dossier must be forwarded to the Minister, via Escort service in order that the Minister can decide on the acceptance or otherwise of that file. In the positive case, the Minister shall arrange for the commitment of budgetary spending and takes a ministerial granting subsidies.

Muskrats, you know?
Information VC Senne

native of America, * muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus) was introduced in Europe in 1905, mainly for its fur.

how to identify it?

Muskrats exclusively associated with stream is large (30 to 36 cm for a weight of 1 to 1.2 kg), has a vertically flattened tail and lives in the banks of streams, in which he set up a network of galleries. This feature is causing damage to many banks inducing dyke failures, destabilization of riverbanks and requiring to be cleaned more frequently rivers (muskrat can move 1 m3 soil / year).

In addition, the muskrat has a vegetarian diet and therefore addresses all cultures riparian and aquatic plants and accentuating the decline of biodiversity in wetlands. It can also be a vector for diseases transmissible to humans, such as leptospirosis or alveolar echinococcosis.

This species is considered harmful and is the subject of a rodent control program implemented by the cell trapping muskrats in the Ministry of the Walloon Region, under the Royal Decree of 19 / 11 / 1987 concerning the fight against organisms harmful to plants and plant products.

How to act?

First by circulating information on problems that may cause the muskrat and the need to fight against.

To eradicate the muskrat, Service Trapping muskrats in the Walloon region uses different methods: mechanical traps, chemical means (the only product approved: chlorophacinone), hunting ...
If you see this rodent or possible damage linked to it along the river, contact the Contract Slutty River at the bottom of the page. It will transmit information directly to the Department of trapping muskrats in the Walloon Region.

* Not to be confused with the Norway rat (20 to 25 inches long without the tail, weight: 250 to 300 g, rounded and sharp-tailed), the most common in homes, connected to the network sewage, garbage, streams and places of food storage (farm, silo, shed). In his home and his property, the owner (or tenant) is obliged to destroy the sewer rats. However, private firms, joint task of planned interventions (usually in autumn and spring) or on appeal. Some communal services sell (or distribute for free) bait poisoned.

Conference: How to manage pesticides at home?

Pesticides, misused, cause different problems for the environment, especially for water surface and groundwater.
still too little awareness of the harmful impact of pesticides, users (personal or professional) often neglect the methods application and do little or no account of the application sites.
The consequences are a decrease in water quality resulting in a loss of biodiversity, a cost of increasing the level of drinkable water and even a health risk.

a time when it is urgent to ensure the good condition of our waters, this briefing aims to give users of plant protection products, lighting for good practices to be implemented to limit their impact on environment.

5 Month Old Has Small Dry Cough

Newsletter 6 - January 2008 Introduction

Inventory Slutty black spots and its tributaries

In Newsletter No. 5 December 2007, we launched a call for volunteers to list the problem areas in the basin Slutty and its tributaries, also known as blackheads.

It will begin soon on the Common Quévy with individuals and voluntary associations who responded positively to the call. Thank you to all for this citizens' initiative.

This inventory will lead to a mapping of the problems listed on each rivers of the basin. This will allow us to establish grassroots action to remove some black spots or to reduce their influence.

If you are interested in (e) the inventory of land, you can still contact us! Ask Sandra Vanoverberghe to 0496/38 67 21.

Rain Plan (Prevention and Fight against Floods and their effects on claims)

Since late November 2007, the Agreement Slutty River Commons offers to provide an information notice for the granting of planning permission on floodplains (III.2.7 action program of actions).

Municipalities that responded positively to this offer is the opportunity for the River Contract Scary submit via this newsletter, the Comprehensive Plan for Prevention and Fight against Floods and their effects on claims or plan "RAIN" and the map of flood hazard that results.

The floods are all natural. However, they are aggravated by:
- the occupation of the valley bottoms (urbanization in the floodplains of rivers),
- embankments,
- soil sealing,
- agricultural practices. RAIN

Plan, adopted by the Walloon Government April 24, 2003 is available in 5 goals and 30 actions. These five objectives are:

improve awareness of risk "flood"
Decrease and slow runoff on watersheds
Locate riverbeds and alluvial plains (while respecting and promoting the natural habitat provides stability )
Reduce vulnerability to flooding in flood zones
improve crisis management in case of flooding

The GTI (Groupe Transversal Floods) was created to implement this plan.
One of these actions involved the development of the map of flood hazard by overflowing rivers in each watershed. It includes areas where flooding may occur, more or less important and frequently result in overflow "natural" rivers.

The map delineates areas characterized by a random value: low, medium, high.

The yellow area corresponds to the hazard is low to say for a recurrence over 50 years or a rare occurrence AND submersion less than 1.30m.

The orange zone is the average value of randomness that is to say

- For a recurrence less than 25 years or a frequent occurrence AND submersion below 30 cm

- For recurrence over 50 years or a rare occurrence AND submersion over 1m30

The red zone corresponds to the high hazard, that is to say, for a recurrence of less than 25 years or a frequent occurrence AND submergence greater than or equal to 30 cm.

Following the development of this map, which is a tool for decision making when granting planning permission or to subdivide, Regional Planning Regulations will be revised to remove this legal limbo. Currently, the Commons should be based on Article 136 of CWATUP (Walloon Code for Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Heritage) and the Circular on the issuance of permits in areas prone to flooding and the fight against the waterproofing spaces (called Forest Circular MB: March 4, 2003). Newcomers in our Committee River

When evaluating the year 2006, it appeared that the Committee did not represent River all water stakeholders, there is no industry participant. This was done because the industries CBR and Holcim have joined the Committee River end of 2007. We wish them welcome!
The company OMYA will also be contacted and partner associations Days Walloon Water.

Why My Pubic Area Is Dark

From its headwaters in Grand-Reng, Slutty flows from east to west across the French border. Having strengthened considerably its flow, the river winds along the foothills of Butte Solmonte Villers-Sire-Nicole Hainault Rouveroy returns. It then continues its journey by traveling the country to cross Givry (channeled) City Mons before pouring into hatred in Jemappes.
Sub-basin of Hate, the watershed Slutty stretches the province of Hainaut. It crosses five Belgian entities: Quévy, Erquelinnes, Estinnes, Frameries and Mons.
The "By" and "Wampe" are the two most important tributaries of the Funk. The Rogneaux, the Temple, the Norgeau the Louvroit the Lombray the creek Worst are other important tributaries of the basin.
Looking Slutty and its tributaries, it is possible to determine the biological richness of the sites. Pollution that threaten fish, birds and mammals have not yet caused damage "irreversible."
